Notice of Meeting -- Moby Dick Society
HEREIN is official and due notice of the next meeting of the Moby Dick Society:
THE MANUSCRIPT of choice, having been decided through no small amount of hearty debate and thorough conversation, is THE UNVANQUISHED, by one William Faulkner, published in 1938.
PLEASE be prepared to meet on Saturday, January 6th, 2007 at 5 PM in last year's favoured stomping grounds, The Charleston. Please read the first short story in its entirety for this meeting.
ATTENDANCE at, or participation in, this meeting hardly remains compulsory for membership in the Moby Dick Society. Members in far-flung regions of terra nostra should, at their own discretion, initiative and expense, submit questions to be read aloud and summarily answered at this forthcoming meeting. Please submit any and all such questions in writing no later than 15 business days prior to the January 6th, 2007 meeting. For delivery of answers to said questions in a method other than that of electronic-mail, as included in the minutes to each meeting, please also enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.
THE BOARD of the Moby Dick Society remains unchanged since last year. Liz is the President, Dan is the Secretary, Irina the Treasurer and Maggie the Remindifier. Objections to this board shall be submitted in writing no later than 15 business days prior to the January 6th, 2007 meeting and can be discussed at the conclusion of the meeting, time permitting.
PROSPECTIVE members shall be invited to attend such that the coffers of the Moby Dick Society can grow and the bounds of discussion can be pushed and prodded beyond known boundaries. Prospective members must meet the rigid and demanding moral code that all current Moby Dick Society members routinely exhibit. Letters of personal recommendation, in addition to an affidavit from a current, sponsoring Moby Dick Society, must be presented no later than 15 business days prior to the January 6th, 2007 meeting. However, such requirements may be waived at the prospective member's discretion, initiative and expense.
QUESTIONS shall be directed to the Secretary and answered in the order upon which they were received, if ever.
DISCUSSIONS pertaining to THE WIND-UP BIRD CHRONICLES can be made at the discretion of the Group at the conclusion of the meeting, time permitting.
