Dispatch from Florida
First off, thank God for WiFi. Without it, I don't know how I'd be suviving this holiday season.
So I am in Florida for a couple of days. With the family, which as most people who know me should know, presents to me some amount of stress. However, working against said stress is the fact that it is about 65 degrees today. Which is more than 8 degrees, the temperature that I left behind in Chicago. Also, I have access to cable again. And oh... talk about re-kindling a torried love affair. how I missed watching hours and hours of Law & Order, and the Food Network, and even various poker shows on tv. And Mtv, even. I watched nearly 4 episodes of Pimp My Ride. Why? because I could.
I think that Florida is due to become the next hipster capital of the country. Indeed, I've read that Chicago is hardly hipster enough when compared to, say, Philidelphia. But I think that Philly will someday pale in comparison to Florida. Walking around Wal-Mart at 11 at night, it's tough to argue with that, trust me. The potential for irony to literally gush forth from the ground following a particularly disastrous sinkhole is overwhelming. Though on the other hand, it does tend to get hot here in the spring and summer, and sunlight prevents hipsterization. I'm just guessing, I mean.
And finally, did you know that Q-Tips are kept next to breast pumps? at least in the Walgreens down here in Melbourne, Florida. I don't get that, at all. I might go so far as to consider it unseemly.
xoxo,
