Blast from the past
Because I didn't write it down when I did it, here is the text of the toast I gave to my sister and her husband at their wedding:

Because I didn't write it down when I did it, here is the text of the toast I gave to my sister and her husband at their wedding:
Oh behalf of everyone here, I want to thank Kevin and Kelly for having the good taste and decency to get married on this gorgeous beach. I doubt that there are many places better suited for this joyous occasion. And I think I continue to speak for everyone else here when I say how honored and privileged we are to be here, sharing this day with you.
I remember another important day that I, as well as many of us here, shared with you, too, Kelly, way back when you graduated from Carnegie Mellon. I remember meeting a great many people that remember me far better than I remember them. I remember being so proud of my sister for taking that next big step on the path towards becoming the amazing woman we all know today.
I think I would remember more except that I was kept busy playing pinball in the student union.
Regardless, I remember enough to know that after four years of partying and studying -- and, well, who are kidding? It was mostly partying -- Kelly: you had done good, and I was never more proud to be your brother.
And so it is again today, Kelly, that you've done good. And once more, I find that I've never been more proud to be your brother.
Kevin, Kelly has given me a strong shoulder to comfort and support me when I didn't know I needed one, and has been a best friend when I didn't know I wanted one. I have always been able to count on her to give me what I needed when I found myself wanting. Kevin, I know that you will come to treasure her love and affection as much as I have -- as much as we all have.
I would ask that everyone raise a glass and drink to the love that Kelly and Kevin have shared in the past, to the love that they share with us today, on their wedding day, and to the love that they will continue to share in the years to come.
